Ferments, Kefir and Kombucha

Seven Acres Farm makes lacto-fermented sauerkrauts, kimchis, and pickles, using produce grown on their own farm, as well as produce grown by other farmers in the Annapolis Valley, with priority given to ingredients that are certified organic or grown without sprays. Their ferments are seasonally-influenced, hand-crafted, and made in small-batches.


Although fermentation is one of the oldest forms of food preservation, sauerkraut, kimchi, and salt-brined pickles are experiencing a popularity boost due to their versatility and health benefits. The process of lacto-fermentation (preserving vegetables in a sea salt brine) preserves the nutrients of vegetables, while creating an environment of beneficial bacteria, resulting in food that is easy to digest, promotes gut health, and boosts the immune system.
